We operate a global network of drone operators and drivers with dashcams who collect map imagery for our global map. Through our decentralized approach, we're able to offer fresher and higher resolution imagery than traditional satellite companies at a fraction of the price. We offer an on-demand API to access map data.

Engineering at Hivemapper
We ascribe to industry standard best practices while balancing velocity with quality. We are extremely data driven and prefer to drive our engineering and R&D with continuous scientifically sound experimentation.
We run two-week sprints with weekly check ins (we're biased towards moving fast and evaluating ourselves based on data-driven outcomes and products vs. bookkeeping sprint points). We value innovation and experimentation.
We are constantly ingesting and processing massive amounts of imagery around the world using approved sensors and our mobile apps.
We run tons of machine learning and computer vision algorithms on the data, statistical analyses, fork out a manual QA workforce, and are developing our own sensors and edge compute solutions.
We are scaling this massively via blockchain.
You would work on on making our processing cluster more efficient by creating a low level paradigm we can use to for autoscaling.
You would work on edge compute solutions, moving video processing, sensor fusion, and machine learning to mobile applications and embedded applications.
You would continuously experiment with rules and metrics for our quality pipeline. There are tons of open research problems around 3d reconstruction, fraud detection, sensor fusion, etc.
Working at Hivemapper
Move fast, own problems, be data driven.
We hire people from all different backgrounds to come together and solve new challenges. We respect everyone's unique perspective and experiences, and highly value both past experience and drive to move forward.
2021 is a new world for working. We're decentralizing our company, and we'll be operating offices in downtown SF, and potentially opening offices across the US (and potentially Europe) depending on who we hire.
We have fun company events and encourage collaboration across the company.
We have regular paper review clubs, brown bags, and are invested in helping our team grow personally and professionally.
As part of our commitment to an inclusive workplace, we are happy to offer prospective engineers the chance to connect with our engineering employees who come from underrepresented backgrounds. It’s a way to get a better sense of our team and what it might be like to work with us.
If you’re interested in connecting with our team, be sure to bring this up during one of our introductory calls!
While we're still remote, our Bay Area employees will have fancy lunches delivered to them every day.
Back in the office, we'll still have lunch, and we'll also have happy hours and other fun snacks/events.
We're opening additional offices in LA and DC, and we encourage travel between offices for those who are interested.
