Informed is a Series A start-up working with several large auto lenders to improve the car buying experience. Each year, over $600 billion in auto loans are originated using a process that has seen little change. We provide software-as-a-service to banks, credit unions, and auto finance companies so that they can show their consumers which of thousands of nearby vehicles they qualify to finance. We also help auto lenders collect and programmatically analyze documents such as photo IDs, paystubs, bank statements, utility bills, and tax returns to lower the cost of originating an auto loan.
We have real paying customers who's names you've heard of. Our customers play an active role in guiding our product development. They are multi-billion dollar corporations (some of which are publicly-traded), so we immediately see how our product delivers to them revenue increases that the financial markets reward with meaningful multipliers.
Our founding team is diverse — one founders was the first investor and founding Board member of Salesforce.com. This is her forth start-up, and she has had over a decade of VC experience!
Our engineering team comes out of Google, Salesforce, Redfin, and Zenefits. We promote a culture that encourages learning.
We operate on two-week sprints in the context of broader release milestones. Engineers work together to define the stories, chores, and bugs needing to be fixed to support a release milestone that aligns with our customers' requests. Stories may undergo architectural reviews, otherwise they are prioritized by a product owner and slated for upcoming sprints. We use sprint planning meetings to estimate our workloads and daily stand-ups to stay in sync throughout the sprint. We encourage pull requests with code reviews, and we accept stories throughout our sprints so that we can deploy daily, multiple times a day, provided that our builds pass our automated test suite.
We crunch data from credit reports, loan applications, and vehicle information from tens of thousands of dealer lots. We deal with endless variation in the types, formats, and scan quality of documents to produce value for customers. Before a consumer can finance a car, we help our lenders verify local application requirements with documentation provided by the borrower using OCR and machine learning techniques.
