Engineering at Jet Edge

Engineering team and processes

Our engineering team operates in two week sprints. We iterate rapidly, and quality is a very strong focus for us. Sprints begin with a meeting to discuss estimates; and they end with demos where our engineers show stakeholders the work they've completed.

Our designers typically mock up the features, and then our engineers work with the designer and our product owners as they go to validate development criteria.

We use Pull Requests on GitHub to conduct code reviews; we use Trunk Based Development, allowing a single artifact to be deployed to both our non-prod and production environments (with tests and approvals in between).

We release to production with every feature, and can do so as often as needed.

Technical Challenges

As we're getting set up, we have the opportunity to rethink everything that exists from the ground up to create the most effective and efficient engineering solutions to the problems that we face.

Our Competitive Advantage

Jet Edge is one of the largest US private jet operators by number of hours flown per year. We dispatch and operate every flight using the highest safety protocols in the industry. Jet Edge has invested in internal programs (FOQA, ASAP, and SMS), as well as invite independent third-party audits (Wyvern Wingman, IS-BAO Stage III, and ARGUS Platinum).

Jet Edge maintains a higher standard when it comes to their crews. Every Jet Edge pilot is an ATP type-rated Captain for the aircraft type they fly. The average number of flight hours for our pilots exceeds 10,000 hours. Additionally, each pilot undergoes Special Procedure & Operational Training (SPOT) which introduces actual Jet Edge flight data and simulated events to extended flight simulator time as part of a comprehensive Advanced Training Initiative (ATI). Because we specialize in long range aircraft, we also utilize the VOCUS fatigue management program to track our pilots’ actual circadian rhythms. We graph and proactively manage pilot fatigue. We monitor each flight for adherence to our protocols as part of our Flight Operations Quality Assurance Program (FOQA).

Jet Edge Charter and Operations Teams are made up of the most experienced aviation professionals in the private aviation industry. With expertise in charter as well as leading fractional, jet card, and debit account programs, they provide consultative services for sophisticated flyers. It is our goal to provide charter clients with the experience of having their own aircraft, without the need to own the asset. The Client Services Team provides 24/7 trip oversight and can coordinate all logistics for travel.
