Jumpcut started out in a one-bedroom apartment with just four team members back in 2014. Since then, we've grown into a multi-million dollar business employing over 50 people (and counting) in 9 countries. In 2018, we have increased our revenue by 400%, have over 10,000 active users in our platform, and we are aiming to release 25 courses by 2022. Engineering at Jumpcut, Inc.
We run a loose Kanban process, pull requests, and a custom workflow. Otherwise, everything is completely open for our developers because we want to give them as much freedom as possible. Our engineers meet on Monday mornings to discuss everyone’s work plan, ensure all tasks are on track, and deploy outstanding PRs to production. When someone finishes a feature, the engineers create a test plan for it then assign it to the Engineering Manager.
We’re trying to revolutionize online business education by first building the fundamental features that support our products such as (1) a custom video player that will allow students to not only sit back and absorb knowledge, but be actively engaged in the learning; (2) an in-house messenger / chat to promote accountability and mentorship between a cohort of students; and (3) group and live discussion features that encourage more real-time work together that replicates a university setting.
We’re conceptualizing and developing innovative tools that help educate the next generation of entrepreneurs. A few ideas are (1) captivating and interactive videos (like our jumpcut.com/careers page) in order to cultivate microlearning and allow users to adapt the pace of progress to their own abilities and time; (2) gamification of courses to help students relate to the course content better, boost their performance, and drive their engagement rates; and (3) web apps that make learning fun and collaborative to provide students more motivation for development (challenges and teamwork + prizes + social media live).
We have an incredible amount feedback of data that we haven’t even began to tap into. We definitely need a data science team to help go through what we have so that we can optimize our marketing, our platform, and the overall user experience from prospect to paid customer.
We’ve created a custom platform to host digital course content, manage sales funnels/campaigns, create new enrollment pages, and search up user information. We have three full length courses already.
We’ve built a custom community forum with user profile pages, video upload functionality, and a collaborate feature.
We’re planning on building an interactive custom video player with resume playback options, clickable elements, and calls-to-action.
