Engineering at LeanTaaS
We have small 5-member teams that work on various parts of the product. Each team consists of two engineers, one PM, and shared designers and data scientists. They execute independently with a dedicated vision, strategy, and roadmap with guidance from the product and tech leads. We follow a Kanban model — we start with some themes for every quarter, break it down into monthly goals, and ship features independently every week. Everything happens in feature branches and our CI/CD pipeline and QA automation helps deploy code quickly.
We've invested a lot in ensuring a clean, modular, and secure architecture based on microservices. But we have many challenges. First, is improving the scalability of our data pipelines. They've gotten to a point where we need a bit of an overhaul. Second is supporting customizations of our products as they get adopted more widely, in a clean way. Third is making sure that our predictive models run faster and better.
You'll spend 80% of time working on product features on the roadmap. You'll spend 20% of time working on making our services better - examples: extending our notifications service to support more channels and formats, implementing SAML based authentication, improving query performance, reducing complexity in our file processing, building analytics warehouse, etc.
