Machine Zone
Combining the power of technology and creative vision to create worlds where everyone can be a hero.
Machine Zone is a global leader in mobile gaming, with a track record of delivering some of the world’s most successful mobile games including Game of War, Mobile Strike, and Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire. We combine the power of technology and creative vision to create experiences that connect people from all corners of the globe.
Our massive mobile games break down linguistic and geographic barriers by uniting an unprecedented number of global players in one gaming world. We empower our game developers to push the boundaries of innovation in a player-driven ecosystem.

Why join us?
We build games that succeed! The results speak for themselves. Three of our titles to date, Game of War: Fire Age in 2013, Mobile Strike in 2015, and Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire in 2017 are already among the highest-grossing games ever on mobile.
We're built to adapt quickly. Leveraging a decade of data with tools to test ideas in real-time, with super quick feedback loops. Operational excellence lives at the heart and soul of decision making at Machine Zone.
Founded in 2008, Machine Zone pioneered free-to-play mobile gaming. Our ethos is to push the boundaries of what is technically possible, and we’re proud of our bold heritage of creating the first free-to-play MMO on iOS. It’s our competitive spirit and deep wealth of experience that makes us unmatched in the industry today.
Engineering at Machine Zone
Machine Zone focuses on optimizing all aspects of technology for our mobile gaming products. Engineering generally falls into two camps; Core Technology Engineering and Product Engineering. Most teams work against 2 week sprints, and have a dedicated Technical Project Manager organizing the work.
Our Core Technology teams develop shared tech across Tools, Client, Server, DevOps, Database, Data Science, and Machine Learning technologies. Development road-maps tend to be longer and planned out months and sometimes years in advance.
Our Product Engineering teams architect, build, and realize the features that make our games shine - shaping the way players interact and compete with each other on a massive scale. Pace is fast and impact is huge. As the front line engineering group developing our games, there's a strong feedback loop between your work and user engagement.
Machine Zone games are deployed at global scale, require real-time client/server performance, leverage distributed systems to handle millions of global users, and are developed in a cross-platform nature targeting iOS, Android, and Amazon devices.
Core Technology at MZ would be a great for people interested in developing a proprietary game engine, tackling challenges related to high throughput distributed systems, or working on advanced Machine Learning solutions to drive revenue and business decisions.
Product Engineering challenges range from front-end interfaces to back-end solutions, tackling challenges of scale and performance to deliver unrivaled social and competitive experiences. Iteration and player experience is king. Strong engineering practices are fostered to ensure smooth development in a large and dynamic code base.
Our Product Engineers architect and deliver gameplay systems which directly impact and engage millions of players globally. For example, in Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire, we bring to life massive Realm Bosses to take down, challenging cooperative dungeon runs in the Guild Adventurer's Hall, and control points to conquer in the Disputed Realms with lucrative benefits for your guildmates. Every feature we build brings players across the globe together, in cooperation or in conflict, to build memorable and lasting gaming experiences.
Super Wonder Event The goal was to bring all of our top players together from different kingdoms and see who is the king of kings. The whole development team from engineering, design, qa, analytics, and live operations worked together on building this insanely huge and performance heavy event. We had to make sure that not only participating players didn't experience lag, but the other 100k+ users observing can spectate lag-free as well. We spent countless hours developing, optimizing, and benching performance. When development was all done, we sat together and watched the event unfold on the big screen. Seeing our hardwork and dedication play out in front of us with so many players, it was satisfying and rewarding.
Working at Machine Zone
