MakersPlace is the premier rare digital art marketplace. Collectors discover and collect unique and authentic digital artworks by the world's leading digital creators.
Why join us?
Our team was founded by a team of world-class engineering leaders and entrepreneurs.
Yash Nelapati (CTO) was employee #1 at Pinterest and the first technical lead who built and scaled their infrastructure to hundreds of millions of users.
Dannie Chu (CEO) was Pinterest's Head of Growth Engineering responsible for growing Pinterest from 20M users to over 200M users, as well as a YCombinator alumnus.
Our marketplace is growing fast, with thousands of artists and collectors, we're growing sales and collectors +30% month/month. We recently surpassed $6MM in GMV run rate and we're breaking new company records each month!
We raised $2M from Uncork Capital (seed investors in EventBrite, SendGrid, Postmates and more), Draper Dragon Fund, Abstract Ventures and early leaders from Pinterest, Facebook and Coinbase.
We're building on the latest blockchain technologies, and helping to set new standards to move the blockchain ecosystem forward. We regularly partner with leading blockchain platforms to define the future of standards such as Non-Fungible Tokens.
We're not building another web application, we're tackling a bold, world-changing mission. We believe that the future of digital creativity relies on empowering the world's digital creators, the very creators that offer you the art, music, photographs and more that you enjoy every day online.
Engineering at MakersPlace
You will work directly with our CEO and CTO to build new product features, infrastructure and internal systems.
We don't adhere to strict processes in our product development. We operate on bi-monthly sprints to set a clear direction for our product and engineering milestones, and hold daily stand-ups to help the team stay informed. Other than that, we're highly communicative and operate in a flexible manner so that we're always working on the highest impact initiatives.
We build simple and intuitive web and mobile experiences that deliver a fun and engaging experience for collector and creators of digital art. You wouldn't know that we're built on top of blockchain technology.
Blockchain technology is nascent and unstable. We build infrastructure on top of the Ethereum blockchain to be resilient to failures and issues that may arise. (e.g Geth and IPFS)
We securely manage thousands of digital wallets (and growing) in cold storage and need to build both processes and infrastructure to be resilient to all possible attack vectors.
We build and optimize ranking and recommendation algorithms to surface the most relevant digital creations to potential buyers.
Projects could include: building a video processing pipeline to allow creators to sell video art, building the product experience for collectors to view, trade and sell their video artwork.
Improve and scale our ranking and recommendations pipeline for our growing collection of digital artworks, to deliver the most relevant digital creations for collectors to purchase.
Improve our architecture to scale the number of Ethereum transactions and be resilient to issues that arise with blockchain technologies.
Improve our cold storage architecture and security mechanisms to ensure the safety of the digital wallets we host on behalf of our customers and creators.
