Engineering at Matter

Engineering team and processes

Our company meetings quarterly to determine what we want to accomplish in the next quarter.

After the company quarterly meeting, our team operates on a weekly sprint cycle. Each sprint begins with a retrospective to ensure we are all improving how we work with one another. During our sprint planning, we discuss time estimates for features to ensure everyone is prepared to have a fun and productive week.

Engineers typically work with a designer and any other interested parties to spec a feature, then work on the feature individually. We use Pull Requests on GitHub to conduct code reviews.

Technical Challenges

We're using several emerging technologies and patterns like a monorepo, GraphQL, a separate UI component library, etc... This results in us solving problems which haven't been solved before.
