Matternet has developed best-in-class technology for on-demand, aerial delivery in urban environments. We provide our technology platform-as-a-service to healthcare and logistics organizations.

To date, Matternet technology has enabled 10,000+ commercial drone flights.

In March 2017, we became the first company in the world to be authorized for commercial beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations of drone logistics networks over cities in Switzerland. In March 2019, Matternet and UPS announced a partnership to provide drone delivery services to US healthcare systems, starting with WakeMed Health in NC and most recently at Wake Forest Baptist Health. In October 2019, Matternet's technology enabled the first (full Part 135 Standard certification) FAA-Approved Drone Airline, UPS Flight Forward (USPFF), providing fast expansion to healthcare facilities across the US. September of 2020 launched our first partnership on the Asian continent, with Japan Airlines. We rang in 2021 by expanding European operations with Labor Berlin, initiating the first ever urban BVLOS medical drone delivery network in the largest city of the EU.

Join us as we build the future today, creating the next paradigm of transportation!

Why join us?

  • Timing is EVERYTHING! Matternet is at a prime inflection point for exponential scaling year over year for the foreseeable future! 🚀

  • Matternet is at the forefront of the drone industry. Be sure to look at metrics that matter 😉: 10,000+ deliveries in highly regulated regions (Berlin, Zurich, North Carolina, Florida, California), flying over densely populated areas, and with geographic and customer diversity.

  • The Matternet Team will be the most invigorating & uplifting Team you've been a member of in your career. We care deeply, show up for each other, and no one is above lending a helping hand, from top to bottom of the org chart. We are growing, but we are very much a startup in considering the level of impact one individual has on the direction of the entire company, and by extension, the global drone industry.

  • Funded by McKesson Ventures, Sony Innovation Fund, Levitate Capital, Boeing HorizonX Ventures, Swiss Post.

Working at Matternet

We believe our Values speak for themself, and hope they align with yours!

We are safe above all else: Our technology can save or take a person’s life. We do not negotiate on the safety of the systems we design, build, and operate.

We deliver: We work smart, not just hard. If our efforts are not yielding results, we pause and regroup. We deliver our product so that our system can deliver its payload, safely and reliably.

We are a team: We win together and lose together. We are one another’s toughest critics, biggest challengers, and loudest supporters. We speak candidly and listen humbly. We are accountable to each other for our own contribution to the success of our mission.

We are creative: We are innovative and inventive. We have the courage and discipline to explore the non-obvious path and to create original thoughts and things. We search relentlessly for aesthetic, simple solutions.

We are deliberate: We are rigorous, intentional, and detail-oriented in our work. We plan upfront to grease the path to execution and prevent mistakes. We openly recognize and reflect on failure to improve our product and processes.

We make the world better: We design and build products to give everyone everywhere access to physical goods. With zero emissions aerial transport and ground infrastructure, we preserve our planet.

Diversity and Inclusion

Over the last year, Matternet has nearly doubled the number of womxn in Engineering roles specifically, as well as across and the entire company. We have also employed software tools such as SeekOut and Triplebyte to ensure bias (unconscious, or otherwise) is accounted for in our sourcing/hiring efforts. We understand that diversity comes in all shapes, sizes, backgrounds, and these varied perspectives are critical as we create a product to serve a global customer base.

In order to foster a welcoming, inclusive community we create opportunities for connection, eg. employing everyone's favorite Slack app: @donut, new hire introductions, regular 1:1s, team (virtual, and/or socially-distanced, COVID-safe) outings, softball, hobby-based Slack channels (#DiversityMatters #MatterChefs #Pets #Winning). Pre-COVID, we held team-wide quarterly celebrations.

Connect with our team during your hiring process

As part of our commitment to an inclusive workplace, we are happy to offer prospective engineers the chance to connect with our engineering employees who come from underrepresented backgrounds. It’s a way to get a better sense of our team and what it might be like to work with us.
