A uniquely data-driven approach to attacking a $450B industry devoid of high-quality technical competitors
Rapidly growing and passionate user base that (1) shops for fun, (2) is a highly underserved demographic and (3) buys products that are 90% margin on a weekly basis.
Engineering at Mira
Our team operates on a weekly sprint model. We do a weekly all-hands meeting, followed by sprint planning on Monday morning, accompanied by a sprint retrospective (including a feature showcase!) and scrum grooming session on Friday mornings. Engineers will work in small groups with other engineers and/or designers, depending on the scope of their work. Additionally, we have a daily morning standup where we discuss progress, blockers and give feedback on feature development. All of our code is managed on Github, all engineers are encouraged to review PRs and everyone pushes production features on a weekly basis.
We offer intelligent personalization in an incredibly complex domain: beauty users use multimodal data, including text, images, video, ingredients information and more to explore and evaluate products. Therefore, in order to guide users to products and media they will love, we extract semantic representations from all of the above media and use this in order to perform behavior modeling on users, ultimately providing them with content and product recommendations based upon their activity and demonstrated interests. This is a challenge at the intersection of deep learning and artificial intelligence (for video, text, image and behavior representation learning), high performance web stack design (for serving up real-time, reactive content recommendations) and cutting edge UX design.
Working with a data systems architect to design and productionize a computer vision job that analyzes product images and extracts structured representations of the colors and textures that the product contains
Working with a backend engineer and a UX designer to implement a modified search results screen in React/React Native, presenting multi-modal content (e.g. videos, products and other users' activity) with personalized justifications (e.g. this user has the same skin type as you) delivered from a backend API.
Working with our head of marketing and our data systems engineers to brainstorm and flesh out an end-to-end user analytics pipeline, shedding light on e.g. how different user acquisition channels produce different user engagement patterns, which users are most promising to target for promotions, etc.
