We're bringing the power of a large data team to everyone, building an easy-to-use application for ingesting data from any source, exploring and annotating that data, scheduling SQL transformations, and exporting data to BI tools or other systems.
Our team has led data teams and built data pipelines at hypergrowth startups like Yammer (Microsoft), Clover Health, Playdom (Disney), Zenefits, Opendoor, and Eaze.
One of our core values is building a culture of learning, personally and professionally, and strive to build an employee-first mindset where everyone grows alongside the business.
We recently finished the YCombinator Summer '20 batch, have since raised money from some of the best investors out there, and are now building out our core engineering team.
Our customers range from small startups just starting to use their data in meaningful ways, to large companies with teams of analysts using us as their data team. This is a chance to scale yourself - we're not just solving data problems for our own team, we're solving data problems and building data tooling to empower people at many companies at a time.
Currently Engineering and Product operate as one - we are a technical product built for somewhat-technical users, so product ideas come from all of us, usually inspired by learnings from our customers.
We operate on 2-week cycles, with a kickoff meeting at the beginning of a cycle to decide on and discuss what we'll be working on, and a retro meeting at the end to discuss what went well and what could be improved.
We also hold occasional product brainstorming & prioritizing meetings to flesh out the near-term roadmap.
At its core, we're building the data-pipeline product to empower any team to operate as if they had a huge data team supporting them. A normal company might ask engineers to manage a data warehouse, or build an ETL pipeline, or schedule some data transformations. At Mozart you'll have a chance to scale yourself up massively - we're managing data warehouses for each of our customers, dealing with all sorts of ETL pipelines into and out of their warehouse, and building tools so anyone can build and schedule data transformations easily.
Integrating asynchronous-django to our django API server, to support long-running queries that can't be handled in a normal request/response cycle.
Building systems to export data from our databases into numerous different external systems - eg: moving customer data into Salesforce, or Google Sheets, or Zendesk.
Building internal tooling to view the status and act on the many data pipelines running in our systems - both ETL pipelines and data transformations.
Optimizing the ordering the SQL data transformations. We'd like our users to not have to think about DAGs and data dependencies - we'd like to do that optimally for them automatically.
We are an early-stage startup growing quickly, so we value people willing and able to take initiative, wear many hats, and adapt as we grow the team and product.
Our core values: * Build others * Follow the 80/20 rule * Be kind * Adapt and Evolve * Employees come first * Be curious and courageous
