Role Description

About this role

As a Distributed Systems Engineer at Mux, you will work on complex cloud services at scale. Our real-time analytics pipeline processes billions of data points every day for some of the worlds biggest media companies, and our global video delivery system transcodes and delivers video at scale. You'll build and operate multi-cloud containerized software on Kubernetes, working with tools like Apache Kafka, Consul, and Docker, and a microservice architecture implemented in Golang with gRPC. We’re looking for a strong engineer who has worked on distributed systems before, who can own important work on a small team, with a goal of delivering highly robust and reliable features and products to our customers.

What You'll Do:

  • Work on globally scalable distributed systems for video delivery and real-time analytics (think Super Bowl scale)
  • Own the feature development lifecycle from architecture and design through to testing and release
  • Design and implement systems for managing large scale deployments across multiple cloud providers
  • Collaborate across multiple teams to develop and evolve our products and architecture

About Mux

Mux is building the future of online video infrastructure. Our founders have previously built some of the biggest things in video technology (like Zencoder, Video.js, and Demuxed), and we're now building API-driven infrastructure to support the biggest use of the internet today: online video.

We have two products for developers.

  1. Mux Video is a simple API to instant video streaming, optimized by data and machine learning. Think Stripe for Video or the back-end of Netflix as a service.

  2. Mux Data is a real-time analytics tool for video streaming. Mux Data is trusted by developers at companies like Vimeo, CBS, and Wistia, and monitors billions of video sessions every month.

Company Culture

Our team is close-knit; we work hard together and have fun together. Our company values are:

  • Be human
  • Turn customers into fans
  • Care obsessively
  • Do a lot with a little
  • Communicate clearly and directly

We have an open and transparent culture, involving everyone in the both long-term vision and short-term objectives. We hire great people and then trust them to own important parts of what we're doing.
