Engineering at MyVR
We like to say our engineering team operates using an agile (little a
) methodology. We adopt and refine our process based on the inputs and desires of the team. Our goal is to deliver on solutions efficiently and apply process where helpful and avoid it when unnecessary.
Currently, we run 2 week development sprints. Sprints start with a planning phase where features are discussed and scoped. Development is usually feature focused, with engineers owning pieces of the product from the back-end to the front-end. During a sprint engineers can work with product and design to refine a solution. Product spec'ing is intentionally lightweight and engineering plays a significant role in defining the product.
All code is submitted via pull requests and reviewed by fellow members of the team. We have an expansive test suite and continuous integration environment, which enables us to feel confident in the state of our code. Deploying 5-10 times per day to production is not uncommon.
We're building a platform to power the short-term rental industry. A significant amount of strategic thought goes into designing and architecting an extensible system that can support internally built features as well as functionality from 3rd party application developers.
Work on direct integrations with major short-term rental marketplaces, through our official partnerships with Airbnb, HomeAway, TripAdvisor, Booking.com, & Expedia. We develop to their APIs and provide input to their direction.
Build tools for fellow developers building on top of our platform. Contribute to our connectivity framework, open APIs, and developer portal, all of which enable 3rd party developers to connect and build on our core platform.
Contribute to our internal WYSIWYG website builder (ala Weebly/Wix/SquareSpace), powering thousands of websites for short term rental operators throughout the world.
Help build out our payment infrastructure, which is responsible for processing a significant amount of money (north of 9 figures).
