Engineering at Newfront Insurance
We have weekly sprints. Every Tuesday, we'll discuss tickets for the upcoming sprint and add them to the queue in Github. On Friday, we do a show & tell and show off something we shipped to the whole company. We use Pull Requests in Github for code reviews and every engineer can deploy to staging and production using Heroku. We also use CircleCI for running unit tests.
Insurance markets are incredibly complicated and opaque. For example, there are thousands of insurance carriers that offer different types of coverage. Every policy has hundreds of details like limits, sublimits, and exclusions. We need to design a canonical representation of risk that can capture all of this structured data.
Build a Chrome extension to automatically pass data to hundreds of insurance carriers' websites. Every site has a different format and we need to automatically detect changes in each flow.
Write a machine learning model to parse insurance policies and identify common features between different carriers. For example, the model needs to match
Crime
andBurglary & Arson
limits.Build a claims management portal for account managers to track claims and share this info with customers
