Engineering at Nimble
We plan our roadmap in 6 month increments based on ongoing customer feedback and user research. We have monthly sprint planning and retrospective sessions as well as a daily standup. We have code reviews, unit testing, and a rigorous quality assurance process. Since we're a small company, the engineering team is very flat; each engineer takes a high level of ownership and must be a strong communicator.
Our most interesting technical question is how to leverage ML to predict who is likely to be a highly effective teacher and be retained in classrooms over time. We're already employing live AI assistance using data from candidate resumes, and we are experimenting with novel data analysis techniques on an ongoing basis.
Aside from the ML component, questions of scalability, security and how to maintain delightful and simple UX while ensuring the app is customizable enough to meet the needs of enterprise customers are our biggest challenges.
Leverage resume parsing to streamline the applicant experience while ensuring data is structured in such a way that the AI can properly categorize work experience relevance and reasons for leaving prior roles, in order to apply predictions about teacher quality.
Refactor Nimble data dashboards to add caching in a way that balances realtime accuracy with the need for enterprise customers to access insights quickly.
Develop user friendly, well-tested integrations with other HR and recruiting tools such as Indeed, ZipRecruiter, Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin to ensure that client districts are sourcing as many candidates as possible.
