Octane AI is the zero-party data marketing platform for Shopify merchants. Thousands of merchants today collect high-value data directly from shoppers via our Shop Quiz and Conversational Pop-ups. They leverage that data across marketing channels like their website, email, ads, SMS and Facebook Messenger to improve the customer journey with personalization. At Octane AI, we believe personalized interactions at every stage of the customer journey — powered by zero-party data — are the key to higher conversion rates.

Octane AI is an all-remote company employing team members in over 12 countries and was elected the 2021 Best Storefront App by the Shopify team. The company has received funding from Javelin Venture Partners, Bullpen Capital, General Catalyst and Boost VC, top Silicon Valley investors behind big brands like Shopify, Masterclass, Snapchat, BigCommerce, Canva and Alibaba.

Engineering team and processes

We try to work asynchronously whenever possible. We have a regularly scheduled meeting only once a week, otherwise, meetings are only ad hoc as needed to help you and your team.

We are currently separated into two teams. Each team has a lead engineer, a PM, a UX designer, a QA person, and more engineers. Each team has clear goals and knows why what they're building will meet those goals and talks about what works and doesn't work.

We are constantly trying to improve and work better so we are super open to team feedback about how to make everyone more productive.

We believe the happier you are, the more productive you and the team are. Being a remote company allows us to work from wherever we'd prefer. Spend your evenings and weekends with your family/friends/hobbies!

We hate bureaucracy. Feel free to talk to anyone on the team, your ideas are welcome. If you know how to improve our workflow, our product, our processes, don't be shy to share it!

We iterate quickly. Projects generally take days or weeks, not months. We have a collaborative environment where you can share a work in progress and get feedback quickly. We like to get something in the hands of the customer and get their feedback as quickly as possible.

In our weekly meetings, we do a fun thing called fast parrot. Everybody, including the CEO, is involved. It's a little weird and fun at the same time, especially if you are doing a meeting in a public place.

Don't work if you are sick. It's way better to rest and recover quicker than work at half power for a long time.

If you feel you are stuck with a task don't hesitate to ask for help. There are no stupid questions and nobody expects you to know everything.
