Oooh is an unannounced startup that is quietly building a smarter, more interactive social video platform for all ages.

Creator-to-audience interactions have progressed but platforms have not. We are here to change that.

Active Roles

Why join us?

  • Ridiculous ambition. Seasoned leadership. First-class investors.

Oooh was founded more than 2 years ago by executives from Twitch + Disney and is backed by an incredible group of Silicon Valley and LA VC’s, founders, product and technology leaders and entertainment moguls—all of whom feel personally connected to our purpose.

Oooh is still unannounced, but will update with specifics once public.

  • The Oooh platform is looking to solve interesting and innovative problems using a variety of technologies.

We're constantly pushing the limits of what's possible using every inch of hardware available to us. Putting an application layer top of a social video platform is no small feat.

  • Great team chemistry, data driven decision making and extremely tight feedback loop with our users.

We are launching very soon and have very exciting early data — having found our sticky power users. We're busting at the seams to get out of Test Flight. So, the 'coming out party' is right around the corner.

Engineering at Oooh, Inc.

Engineering team and processes

We are a small team with more than a dozen fulltime developers. We have several leads and there are some informal teams and owners for various areas of the app. In practice, all engineers make important decisions and contribute across subsystems of the app. We deeply value code reviews and automated testing, which are at the core of our development cycle, assisted by continuous integration. We run 2-week sprints with daily scrums, sprint reviews and sprint planning broken out per team so they stay manageable. Our architecture builds on pillars of isolated assemblies, public interfaces, and dependency injection. We are building a small, collaborative team where skill level is high, and ego is low. Every member supports each other and cares about the quality of the whole product and the whole codebase, sharing a sense of ownership.

Technical Challenges

Our app is trailblazing, so of course our biggest challenge is building something that's unique, not just cloning features from other apps. We live at the intersection of social apps and games, so there are interesting problems from both worlds to solve and additionally those unique problems that live at the locus. Without giving away too much, our app benefits from deep experience in networking, native OS integration, video, machine learning, computer vision, and web technologies.

Projects you might work on
  • Implement a neural network trained on the human voice to identify talking moments in gameplay videos.

  • Create language bindings to selectively expose native methods, events, and objects to proxies in javascript.

  • Optimize our network stack with intelligent prioritization that updates in real-time according to user behavior in the app.

Working at Oooh, Inc.

This is a tough question to answer so I'll just be honest - Oooh has the best company culture of any startup I've ever worked for.

Oooh has an extremely strong vision and intimidatingly large ambitions, which is balanced by an extremely pragmatic, evidence driven decision making.

New ideas are welcomed. Creativity is celebrated. And the process is very well organized.

Diversity and Inclusion

For a startup, especially one near the gaming space, we are well above average on the gender diversity ratio. Something of which we are quite proud of and is a testament to our ability to attract and hire world-class talent.

It just is. From day 1. Starts with hiring the right kind of people. Culture fit matters. We have routine company strategy and all-hands meetings to discuss exactly topics like this, and how we can better serve the people - not just the employees - that work here.
