Osmo Systems
Our mission is to enable fish and shrimp farms to improve their efficiency and sustainability so that in 50 years we still have bountiful, healthy seafood without emptying our oceans. While technology has revolutionized the other sectors of our food system, aquaculture has been left behind. We are bringing aquaculture up-to-date by enabling farmers to collect real-time, high-fidelity water quality data so they can feed more efficiently and reduce their high mortality rates. We’re doing this by combining optical sensing and computer vision in an innovative multi-parameter sensor that is simpler to maintain and costs 90% less than anything else out there.
You can read more about our solution and why we believe sustainable aquaculture will give us the best shot at saving our oceans complete overfishing here: https://www.osmobot.com/2018/02/12/why-shrimp-farming-osmobots-story/

Engineering at Osmo Systems
Our engineering team operates on two week sprints, ending every other Wednesday. Each sprint begins with a planning meeting to review and prioritize the tasks for the sprint and agree upon the definition of done
for reach task. During the sprint the team engages in daily stand-ups and as-needed meetings to collaborate on specific tasks. We use Pull Requests on GitHub to conduct code reviews and google docs for reviewing strategy proposals. The team is currently comprised of three software engineers, two mechanical, and one R&D scientist.
Generating scientific quality images in constantly changing aqueous conditions.
You would be building tools to support our R&D team as we expand our sensor’s capabilities.
You would contribute as-needed to our entire software stack, from backend to frontend, device to cloud, scientist to farmer.
You would travel to national and international sites to gain better understanding of users and use cases.
Working at Osmo Systems
We strive to always do the right work and do it well. We believe most decisions should be made collaboratively and are firm believers in scrum.
