Otis
Our mission is to democratize access to wealth.
Otis is a marketplace for alternative assets. Simply put, Otis democratizes access for normal people to invest in the same things as billionaires, such as art and real estate. We offer these opportunities as investments for as little as $25.

Why join us?
This is your chance to jump in on the ground floor of a startup uniquely poised for success (see other reasons below).
You'll be one of our founding engineers, and with that comes power and responsibility. You'll be leading and designing key pieces of our architecture, and you'll have a direct impact on our growth.
We have an elite team and we've done this before.
Our founder was the former co-founder and CEO of Skillshare. Our head of engineering was a former lead architect at Venmo and created the Venmo debit card. We currently have a talented team of eight with diverse backgrounds, ranging from Kickstarter to Credit Suisse to The Players Tribune.
We've raised about $15 million and we're backed by top VCs including Maveron and Union Square Ventures.
We already have tens of thousands of users using our app and we've been featured in top publications including the New York Times, Artsy, and Hypebeast. We already have ~$1M of assets acquired, including pieces by Kehinde Wiley, KAWS, etc.
We invest a lot into building a culture that is centered around transparency and growth. Check out our culture docs for more information:

Engineering at Otis
We have a flat engineering structure, where every engineer is given autonomy and responsibility. Our cornerstones are trust and transparency, and that's reflected in the way we build things.
We are big fans of pair programming and TDD. We also try to automate as much as possible, from CI to linting.
We're not just agile, we're obsessed with iteration. We show our work often, gather feedback, and constantly communicate.

We're building a completely new product from the ground up, and relying on technological superiority is a big part of how we'll win. We'll need to overcome challenges like: - scaling out our platform to support millions of users, including handling natural bursts of traffic - harnessing data science and machine learning to get the best supply of assets - working with AR and other cutting edge technology to deliver a futuristic consumer experience
Building a secondary trading platform that allows users to exchange their shares with other members of the platform.
Rearchitecting our platform to support different payment methods, all with different payment lifecycles.
Building a scalable mobile experience where users can delightfully explore and invest in the things they're most interested in
Working at Otis
Transparency and trust are at the cornerstone of our culture. We're an egalitarian team that prizes speed and resourcefulness over bureaucracy.
