Engineering team and processes

We are a fast growing team. Working in a scrum with two weeks sprints. We have relatively flat structure with teams oriented around their primary responsibilities (firmware, optics, cloud, drivers).

Our stack and process differs slightly based on the team but we use git across the board to manage code and PR process.

We encourage our team members to take responsibility of their process/product. For software engineers this means to take care of their infrastructure and tests and deploy their code as often as possible.

Technical Challenges

The most interesting challenge is the breadth of the problem we tackle. First we have to design and build the sensor. We design chips, the optical system, the mechanical system. Once it is a designed we have to manufacture it. Then we can finally use it. We capture the data with it and we process that with a variety of algorithms we developed. Lidar data is pretty data heavy think 10sMB/s so it does get pretty heavy pretty quickly.

Projects you might work on
  • Design and build a library that displays large point clouds in the browser accelerated by the GPU

  • Design a machine learning algorithm that can segment and classify objects in a point cloud in real time.

  • Build an application that allows user to interact and review their lidar recordings, classify, categorize and share them.
