Outlier is a consumer startup endeavor. We seek to find product/market fit in emerging markets that show early signs of exponential growth.
Our first product, Civil, is an app for interactive political discussions and talk shows.

The first product we're working on is Civil, an app for interactive political discussions and talk shows. If successful, we hope to better educate the general population on contemporary events and how they are affected by public policy.
Engineering at Outlier
We're a seed stage startup with a very small team. We operate on 2-week sprints with tasks planned in Asana. Our process is simple and light; we commit to a major story/task every week, and check in during our sprint planning meetings. We go over what went well, what needs work, and any important issues for the team/company. We work long and hard in a small, tight-knit environment, ready to adapt to any changes.
We're building a complex react native app that requires a lot of external integrations. It's an opportunity to learn how to build chat, search, audio streaming, analytics, push notifications, GraphQL integration, Unity integration with react-native, and NoSQL with DynamoDB. It's not always about what we use, but how we use it. Building a high quality app is challenging, especially when you have your hand in everything. You will be stretched thin and be given the autonomy to figure things out; but you'll also have someone to guide you when needed.
Build a search service using Elasticsearch integrated with GraphQL through AWS AppSync, integrate it into our mobile app.
Integrate analytics using Amplitude throughout our React Native app.
Integrate Unity personal avatars into our React Native app.
