Parabola
Parabola brings the power of programming to everyone.
At Parabola, we believe that everyone has the ability to be amazingly analytical, curious, and creative all at once. Unfortunately, most people have not been given the tools and encouragement to express their ingenuity. Technology hasn’t kept up with our aims.
We don’t think you should have to come from a distinctly technical background or know how to write code to be a builder. We are closing this productivity inequality gap by building a drag-and-drop productivity tool that lets everyone translate what they want to do into instructions for a computer to do it for them. No matter who you are, with simple, logical building blocks, you can customize and orchestrate the world around you. Learn more at parabola.io.

Engineering at Parabola
Parabola is an engineering driven organization. We build things with the future in mind, while still being agile and moving fast.
We ship code to production multiple times per day via continuous integration. We make many incremental improvements quickly to lower risk and get us exactly where we need to go: resulting in a large impact.
We look for engineers who are bright, collaborative, thoughtful, and are excited by solving tough challenges.
Parabola is a visual programming platform. We're at one time a programming language, an IDE, a deploy process, and a cron system. There are many challenges involved with creating all of those systems in a stable, scalable, and understandable way.
Today, people use Parabola primarily for creating logic around data. We've built a robust internal data processing system that is capable of supporting both small and quite large (in the GBs) data sets with consistent and predictable performance. As Parabola continues to scale we need to make this system not just stable, but expand it to even larger data.
A great week would be... - Shipping a new feature to our React app that enables Parabola flows to be embedded anywhere across the web. - Presenting a lunch & learn to the team on a new testing utility you created that makes writing tests faster for the rest of the team. - Reviewing a product design spec, asking clarifying questions, and giving feedback on product and potential tech risks or areas of high implementation costs. - Collaborating with another engineer on a tech plan for the first iteration of the product design spec. - Writing code with React, TypeScript, NodeJS, or Python. - Tinkering with AWS Cloudwatch to ensure we’re correctly tracking a metric that shows the improving stability of Parabola’s flow calculation system. - Pairing with another engineer on a some improvements they left on one of your PRs.
Working at Parabola
Parabola has a very collaborative, fast-paced, and thoughtful culture. We believe that we should all be working towards a common goal and that the different viewpoints and ideas on how to get there are what will make us successful. The team has fun together, whether it's through offsites, lunch, events, or just brainstorming a particularly tough problem.
When looking at candidate profiles, we use any tools available to hide information that may contribute to unconscious bias. We are always looking to bring on team members from different backgrounds and increase our diversity.
As part of our commitment to an inclusive workplace, we are happy to offer prospective engineers the chance to connect with our engineering employees who come from underrepresented backgrounds. It’s a way to get a better sense of our team and what it might be like to work with us.
If you’re interested in connecting with our team, be sure to bring this up during one of our introductory calls!
