We believe that when we take care of our home, it takes care of us. Home is an extension of the self. It offers a sense of belonging and welcomes all with ease and warmth. It's where we recharge, wash off the day and rest up for tomorrow. Home is the most comforting word there is. That's why they say there's no place like it. The unmistakable feeling of home is what inspired us to create Parachute. To responsibly make essential, lasting items that transform a house into so much more.

DECEMBER 2020 UPDATE
Earlier this year, we stated our commitment to taking action towards anti-racism – and to making meaningful, lasting change. We understand this to be ongoing work that will never be done, that we will always need to be active in our commitment to inclusion. But over the past six months, we’ve gotten started. Here is what we’ve been up to:
MENTORSHIP AND GRANT PROGRAM:
The Home for Dreams initiative was established in the fall of 2020. This grant program aims to support Black-owned, product-centric businesses with capital, advisory meetings and brand amplification. Our first participant was selected in December 2020 and will begin the program in February 2021. We are excited to share the recipient with you early next year.
RECRUITMENT AND HIRING PRACTICES:
Our recruiting and hiring process has been revamped to be more inclusive by looking for ways to minimize the effects of bias on decision making.
We’ve updated our job descriptions and careers page to be more inclusive.
Pre-screening interviews are all done via phone rather than Zoom video.
We supply all hiring managers with DEI specific interviewing tips.
We have invested in and are partnering with a career advancement platform for Black, Latinx and Native American students and professionals.
We are tracking diversity in recruiting to use as a benchmark for future progress.
ANTI-RACISM EDUCATION AND TRAINING POLICIES:
We completed two mandatory, company-wide trainings with our external Diversity and Inclusion advisor. The trainings were focused on taking action to manage and acknowledge unconscious bias and actionable steps we can take through allyship. These mandatory training sessions are ongoing and we have more planned for 2021.
We also launched a monthly internal newsletter sharing external resources and internal updates on D+I efforts.
DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION BOARD:
We immediately put in place a D+I committee consisting of Parachute employees at all levels, including our CEO and an external advisor to oversee our efforts. This group meets twice a month to ensure we continue to make diversity and inclusion an active priority.
We completed an internal D+I survey as well as a company-wide brainstorm session – the results of which are being used to focus the committee’s strategy, effort and future trainings.
REPRESENTATION ON OUR PLATFORMS:
We increased representation across all platforms this year. We did this by dedicating a majority of our budget to hiring and partnering with BIPOC models, partners, influencers and brand ambassadors. We also used our social media platforms to represent and uplift creators by sharing their content with our audience. This effort is ongoing, and we will continue to do better.
Over 50% of our paid influencer budget was dedicated to BIPOC.
Our percentage of POC ambassadors increased from 19% to 35%.
We are proud of the work we have done, and we look forward to doing much more. We will continue to update you on our progress on a bi-annual basis. Thank you for being a part of our community and our journey.
WE ARE COMMITTED TO TAKING ACTION TOWARDS ANTI-RACISM – AND TO MAKING MEANINGFUL, LASTING CHANGE IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS:
Build a mentorship and grant program for Black-owned businesses. Participants will get access to our team, knowledge and financial support. We’re working hard to get it off the ground and will let you know when we begin accepting applications.
Actively recruit and hire BIPOC at all levels to make sure Parachute is representative of all people, ideas, perspectives and experiences.
Educate our employees about anti-racism through ongoing workshops, guest speakers and trainings.
Create a Diversity and Inclusion board with internal advocates and external advisors to hold us accountable moving forward.
Utilize all of our platforms to represent, uplift and amplify people from the BIPOC community – from influencers and partnerships to content and advertising.
WE WILL HOLD OURSELVES ACCOUNTABLE. WE ARE LISTENING TO YOU. YOU CAN COUNT ON US TO CONTINUALLY UPDATE THIS PAGE, SHARING OUR PROGRESS AND FUTURE INITIATIVES.
