Engineering at Pay By Group
Our engineering team operates in two-week sprints. Each cycle begins with a sprint kickoff to go over functional specs for features in that sprint, which leads into a technical spec discussion and initial team estimations for those stories. The sprint ends with a show & tell meeting where each engineer can show off the work they’ve completed + retrospective on what went well and could be improved in our workflow. Engineers work with our product team, a UX guy and a designer, to collaborate on function specs that balance technical constraints with desired functionality. We use pull requests on GitHub to conduct code reviews and do QA before merging to production.
Our system handles multiple currencies; deadlines; time zones differences; FX, installments; card authorizations, validations, captures, and failures; chargebacks; fraud detection; over 400 different automated messages; SMS; multiple languages; deposits; withdrawals; installments; and a lot more... it’s a challenge to build, maintain, and make simple for everyday users!
