Engineering at PayJoy
Engineering team and processes

We have four engineering teams, spread between our three main offices (San Francisco, Mexico City, and Bangalore). Each team works with the product team to establish quarterly and yearly goals. Release cycles happen as features are completed and tested. Code reviews for code added to the code base are sent to other engineers with area-specific knowledge.

Technical Challenges

In order to help the under-banked, we work together to improve and scale our alternative credit scoring platform, our proprietary Android mobile device management system, and our RESTful API. Data security, scale, and latency are key technical drivers for best-in-class performance to our partners, who often have over 100M users.

Projects you might work on
  • You will work on developing cutting edge technology for locking Android devices across multiple OEMs while anticipating potential security breaches and vulnerabilities.

  • You will have the opportunity to develop entirely new products to enable financial inclusion in emerging markets. You will be involved from concept to execution, collaborating with colleagues and sharing ownership of the final product.

Maternal/Paternal Leave

Primary caregiver: Up to 12 weeks paid, with an optional additional 4 unpaid Secondary caregiver: Up to 4 weeks paid, with an optional additional 4 unpaid

Flexible Hours

We try to maintain core hours of 10-4 for everyone in the SF office, but encourage people to be flexible, especially when they're collaborating with international colleagues.

Health Insurance

We provide full medical, dental, vision insurance for the employee and family.

401(k) Contribution

We contribute 3% to a 401(k) for every full-time employee.

Transportation

We will provide up to $265/month for those who have commutes on public transit.

Workshops/Conferences

We encourage employees to continue their professional development and training. To that end, employees may expense up to $2000 yearly for training related to their primary job function, subject to manager approval. This benefit is available to all individuals directly employed by the company.
