Full-Stack Engineer

The kind of person we’re looking for:

A talented, experienced software engineer with a handle on good software design, a knack for solving difficult problems in complex multi-component systems, and an interest in learning new things. The kind of stuff you’ll be doing:

• Designing and developing new features for our ordering server stack, which is written in PHP
• Working directly with the Product team to turn ideas into software
• Extending and improving existing system services and software components
• Identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks
• Writing web pages using HTML/CSS/JavaScript

The kind of experience you’ll need:

• Experience with web application development, including HTML / CSS and JavaScript
• Comfort in both Linux and Windows
• Facility with version control systems (Git preferred)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able, periodically, to work outside normal business hours (i.e. early mornings, evenings and weekends) to support critical systems

The extra stuff that would be nice:

• Working knowledge of PHP
• Knowledge of C# / .NET
• Experience with MVC frameworks, such as CodeIgniter, and front-end frameworks, such as React or Vue
• Experience with MongoDB or other document databases
• Experience with web application architecture, including background processing and queues
• Experience with functional and unit testing
• Reasonable skill with spreadsheets and diagrams
• Understanding of web technologies: HTTP, SSL, REST, JSON, XML
• Experience with Hive, HDFS, MapReduce, Flume or other fancy “Big Data” technologies
