Philz Coffee focuses on making the best drip coffee. Each cup is handcrafted and made one cup at a time at our retail stores served by friendly Baristas dedicated to customizing your cup of love. We are an established brand that operates in more than 45 retail locations and is continuing to expand and grow.
Our coffee is a staple for many engineers in the valley, as is accurately reflected in the show Silicon Valley. Needless to say, our engineers at Philz receive as much free coffee as they can drink.
Our mobile app has been the recipient of awards, most recently at CES & W3, and has been recently featured during the keynote at Apple's WWDC in 2018.
We are an agile development team that operates in either one or two week sprints, depending on the project. We love code review, unit testing, dependency injection, elegant code, cross functional discussion, and collaboration. Our engineers have a great deal of autonomy. It's a goal to keep our processes light, but effective and balanced.
Once an order is placed from our app, we're not done. We handle the payment, scheduling, store communication, order dispatch, ticketing, and everything else necessary until the order is ready for pickup... and then we're still not done.
Our app is part of a mobile end-to-end integration that needs to co-exist with an already established retail operation. Doing so seamlessly presents logistical and business challenges that often become interesting technical challenges.
Some of our newest upcoming features, made public at WWDC, are our integrations with Siri Shortcuts, Siri Suggestions, and Apple Watch. Very soon, our customers will be able to order directly from their Apple Watch & iPhone using our apps or Siri.
For an end-to-end mobile ordering solution, our consumer apps are usually the only ones people see. We also have an internal app infrastructure, specifically for stores & baristas, to handle order fulfillment and scheduling.
iOS only represents some of our mobile customers. We've also launched the same experience on Android with optional Google Pay support.
