Engineering at Point

Engineering team and processes

We are a small and collaborative engineering team consisting of a co-founder/ CTO (focused primarily on backend), two senior backend engineers, and a mobile engineer.

Some engineering practices we currently employ are Git Flow, Code Review, Some CI/CD deploy pipelines and Unit Testing.

Technical Challenges

We are building a fintech product which requires the utmost security principles, high availability and efficient concurrent processes. We need to ensure that our API, services, and database are able to sustain high volume of throughput while not sacrificing on security, in addition to maintaining PCI compliance.

As we scale we will need to build out services in a service oriented architecture from our API monolith and be able to maintain high availability and security.

We will also be faced with fraud and will have to build systems around monitoring this even if we also leverage a 3rd party provider.

Another interesting challenge is point accrual and redemption accounting and ensuring that we have fail safes in place for audit trailing and replay if a disaster scenario were to occur.

Projects you might work on
  • You would get to work on building out data-enrichment for card transactions to make the individual transaction data more legible and clear to our end users.

  • You would be working on the points accrual and redemption systems. You get to reward people for supporting their favorite services and brands!

  • Building a ledgers(system of record) and extremely reliable financial infrastructure that is low latency and can scale massively.

  • New features! Build new features and products from scratch that will bring delight to existing members and attract new ones.
