Engineering at PulsePoint

Engineering team and processes

Our engineering team operates on two week cycles. Each cycle beings with a meeting to discuss time estimates for features and ends with a demo/ feedback meeting where engineers discuss the work they completed. We use pull requests on GitHub to conduct code reviews. All code is expected to come with unit tests, functional tests and integration tests where by we actually spin up the entire stack in a method to assert against. All engineers are empowered to push code to production, which we often do several times daily. We evolve constantly, so impact is seen in days and weeks, not years. We’re small enough where you can own something and have a direct impact, but big enough that you don’t have to do it alone.

We practice TDD/ unit-testing, continuous integration, code-reviews, and scrum.

Technical Challenges

Currently, the PulsePoint Exchange handles millions of transactions per second, continuously evaluating, selecting, and optimizing based on advanced statistics and machine-learning algorithms, returning responses in milliseconds. We are working on: Cloud - computing, event-driven IO, self - healing systems, analytic databases

Projects you might work on
  • Some major projects the Exchange team is currently working on: continuing to scale our core exchange platform, honing the intelligence of our optimization, cutting feedback time for business intelligence, and aggressive automation.

Working at PulsePoint

We are a team of passionate, smart, go-getters. We aren't afraid of getting messy, whether that means trying something new and failing, helping a teammate through a river of mud at Tough Mudder, or having chocolate all over your hands from s'mores at our company retreat. We value innovation, value creation and people that push themselves and their colleagues forward to get better. We are silly, loud and full of laughter, but we get shit done, and have a great time working together to make the world better.
