Q Bio is engaged in bringing the Physical of the Future to everyone with Gemini, the first clinical Digital Twin platform, powered by the Q Bio Mark I self-driving, whole body scanner: the fastest, most accessible, non-invasive scanner ever developed, able to scan your whole body in 15 minutes or less, with no radiation, in an open space where you can stand, sit, or lie down.

By correlating between changes in your anatomy and biochemistry, weighted by lifestyle, medical history and genetic risk factors, The Mark 1 adapts in real-time to collect more information based on significant changes and each individual's personal risk factors. The most salient changes and results are automatically summarized based on those factors in your Gemini Dashboard.

We are looking for determined, talented people who are passionate about building the future of healthcare with us!

Active Roles

Why join us?

  • Our interdisciplinary team is comprised of pioneers in fields such applied math, computational physics, electrical engineering, genetics, machine learning, and radiology, and hail from a dizzying array of home countries and cultural backgrounds. We grow together and dream big.

  • Our leadership is positive, encouraging, and believes we can only accomplish such audacious goals if we do it together. Our technology is truly exciting, multifaceted, and unique.

  • We are funded by some of the world's greatest investment firms including: A16Z, Khosla Ventures, Founders Fund, SciFi VC, and Kevin Durant.

  • The human body is one of the most amazing things in the known universe but we still barely understand it. We are just beginning to have the tools to non-invasively measure and quantify our biological state. In the coming years, the combination of these tools with exponentially increasing computational power will lead to a transformation in our understanding of our bodies, disease and aging. We are excited to have the chance to contribute to this effort and help improve the lives of generations to come.

Engineering at Q Bio

Engineering team and processes

Our software engineering team is small and flat and works closely with our research and development teams.

We are passionate about elegant system design and architecture. We believe simpler is better and that good software abstraction layers are critical in order to contain complexity in large software projects that need to scale to large numbers of developers while maintaining quality. We embrace functional programming paradigms like immutability, but aren't dogmatic and believe in using right tool for the job.

Technical Challenges

Building technology to measure more about the human body, cheaper and faster.

Developing high-perfomance numerical computing resources, and making them available as a platform to scientists and bioinformaticians for analysis, visualization, and discovery.

Designing a data model that represents the biological state of a human being and how it changes over time without introducing bias based on the current state of medical knowledge.

How to reliably process and make sense of both structured and unstructured data from many different sources.

Projects you might work on
  • Design, build, and deploy a high-performance numerical computing architecture in distributed environments.

  • You would work on toolkits for the analysis and visualization of quantitative health data.

  • Design a data model and API for storing and accessing data that describes the human body.

Working at Q Bio

We are engaged in solving a complex problem and actively seek out diverse perspectives

Diversity and Inclusion

Bias in healthcare is a tremendous problem, and in order to be sure this is corrected, we know we need a truly diverse team of engineers, scientists, and operations team members, and the capacity to work with data from a diverse population in order to inform our work more fully. We aim for fair gender representation on our engineering teams, and are proud that our greater team speaks over 15 languages and hail from all over the world.

Our leadership team intentionally fosters a warm, engaging culture in which affinity groups are continually growing. We host company events with and without family, work together to plan ways to interact inside and out of the office at which everyone feels welcome and seen. Every new hire is asked to share a bit about their personal background, and differences are celebrated!

Connect with our team during your hiring process

As part of our commitment to an inclusive workplace, we are happy to offer prospective engineers the chance to connect with our engineering employees who come from underrepresented backgrounds. It’s a way to get a better sense of our team and what it might be like to work with us.

If you’re interested in connecting with our team, be sure to bring this up during one of our introductory calls!
