Quartzy is an online laboratory management system and marketplace designed for research labs at pharma, biotech and academic institutions.
Our users love us. We have a Slack channel dedicated to sharing their feedback, and it is overwhelmingly positive. We make a real difference in the lives of scientists.
We are well funded by Eminence Capital, Khosla Ventures, and are Y Combinator S11 alumni.
We keep profitability within reach. We have revenue in the tens of millions and sustain >50% year-over-year growth.
Our product and engineering teams are organized into cross-functional teams we call pods. Each pod is made up of a variety of roles across disciplines – product managers, engineers, designers, and so on. Engineers typically work directly with designers and product managers to establish feature requirements.
Once a feature is fully formed into its product spec, the engineers in the pod will break it down into its technical requirements. All code we then write is reviewed by at least one other teammate via GitHub pull requests. Once approved and merged, it is automatically tested and deployed via our continuous delivery pipeline.
While there is a paved path for a pod's process, each pod ultimately decides how it would like to operate – how each ceremony will be run, how it will estimate stories, and how it organizes its board in JIRA. In the end, it is up to the pod to decide how they can work most effectively. At the moment we use the kanban process with a regular cadence of agile ceremonies – Slack based stand ups, estimation meetings and retrospectives.
You will have the opportunity to build out our new SaaS offering – features so good, they are worth paying for. This means integrations with financial systems, a recurring billing platform, and new tools for labs to help users manage their labs.
You will be able to work with our platform team to automate our development tooling and transition to a Kubernetes deployment pipeline and production infrastructure.
You will have the opportunity to work on refining and enhancing our automated pricing systems.
These are the values that drive our decisions. We strive to have a culture that is:
Problem Solving: We keep the ego out of problem solving – if you see a problem and you have an idea to solve it, let’s hear it. We are realistic about expectations and constraints involved in any problem and solution. If it’s a viable solution to a real problem, we will implement it.
Collaboration: Every team in our company is interconnected. A decision made on one team affects several others. We strive to be collaborative with teams and individuals through clear communication and a mutual respect. We may not always agree, but we are all working together towards one goal.
Iterative: We believe in small changes that add up. We embrace failure, learn from it, and adapt.
Quartzy offers unlimited paid time-off. We do not have a mandatory minimum, but we encourage you to take at least a few weeks each year to spend with your family or seeing the world. We take a company-wide week of holiday time off in December through New Years, in addition to other observed national holidays.
We have been known to ask our remote employees to introduce us to their pets on video calls. Sharing is caring! When you are on site, you will get to meet some of our local furry friends – Brandy will certainly appreciate a game of fetch.
Our engineers are spread across the United States and you will get to choose what working hours work best for you and your team.
Our engineering team is fully remote and most of our code is written while in our pajamas.
We provide rich medical benefits (health, dental, vision, life insurance, and more).
Step challenges, trivia nights, escape rooms, a regular speaker series, holiday parties and more!
