Why join us?

  • We are going through a period of huge growth with biopharma partners. With one of our partners, it will be the first time that a patient can sign up on a website and have his or her medical information be used directly to support an FDA approval of a drug for a rare condition. We're really excited by this, and believe it will be game-changing in the rare disease and drug development world.

  • Our team, investors, and advisors are exceptional. Our CEO was previously Head of Corporate Development at 23andme. Our Head of Product previously led product teams at Roche, Stride Health, athenahealth, and worked in rare disease research. Our Head of Engineering was previously CTO at two companies and is both an excellent engineer and mentor. We raised from top healthtech and consumer investors: Lux Capital, Village Global, Shasta Ventures, and the CEOs/execs of 23andme, Flatiron Health, Clover Health, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Livongo, Forward, McKesson, Apple Health, and Freenome. The people surrounding the company are the kindest, smartest, most mission-driven people we know.

  • We're a very different company - we're building both a consumer (patient)-facing web application as well as an FDA-grade decentralized data structuring platform. Thus, we tackle super interesting technical challenges across a modern stack, working on UI/UX components for patients, remote data extractors, and internal tools, as well as interesting logic challenges around data architecture and biopharma needs.

Engineering at RDMD

Engineering team and processes

We have 3 engineers, One is Leo, our Head of Engineering who you'd be reporting to. We have a flat org structure. Every team member has ownership of part of the platform, both UI and data model, client and server. We run weekly sprints, daily checkins, no standup, git PRs. All engineers work closely together with non-technical team members, in a cross-disciplinary team. It's part of the attraction of working here - you can work directly with clients and cross functionally with other depts. We value individual responsibility and creativity.

Technical Challenges

From one of our engineers:

I think for me, one is working on the latest and greatest in terms of product engineering technologies. The second is defining and designing a system from the ground up that needs to be really robust, stable, and scalable, which is probably the most difficult and interesting part for me. The third might just be the fact you're working on so many different things, and having to juggle that. And not just different things, but all aspects of each those things. It's the opportunity to truly own a product.

Projects you might work on
  • A pdf document viewer with interactive annotation tool. Database integrity checking and migration tools. Eventually this needs to be scaled up so that remote nurses can log in and perform decentralized data annotation/structuring.

Working at RDMD

In general, we're very playful and love having fun and poking fun with each other, but we mean business and hold ourselves and one another to a very high standard. We're very transparent, and focus a lot on communication, feedback, and creativity.

We're very diverse in terms of gender, nationalities, backgrounds, life stages, and interests - we have a PhD scientist, a dutch architect, a trial manager at a hospital, someone who used to have dreadlocks, an ex-investment banker, a rare disease patient, a mom, a food photographer, the list goes on...

Our company values are: 1) Serve the mission, above yourself. 2) Be transparent. 3) Give and receive authentic feedback. 4) Take 100% responsibility and action. 5) Be endlessly creative and ambitious.
