Engineering at Ready Education

Engineering team and processes

Our engineering team works in two-week sprint cycles. Each sprint begins with a planning session with the Product Manager, to discuss goals for the sprint (what we are delivering), work out estimates, and ends with a product release (which is demoed internally). Engineering, UX, and Product Management work collaboratively to build the most valuable things for our customers, with Engineering and UX together accountable for the product solution, and Product Management accountable for the requirements. We use the productivity tools available GitLab to collaborate, including Merge Requests and the integrated CI/CD.

Technical Challenges

We are building a set of powerful workflow automation tools for universities. It has to be flexible enough to deal with the different nuances and requirements of each school; easy enough to use so that non-technical staff at the schools can build automated workflows; simple + clean for us to maintain and extend in the future.

Projects you might work on
  • You would get to work on the best-in-class comprehensive Contact Trace and Case Management solution specifically made for the needs of higher ed institutions, which helped many schools safely reopen in the fall of 2020 (and continue to operate safely amidst the pandemic).

  • You would be helping us build the next iteration of our data science infrastructure, including managing multiple data warehouses, large numbers of data flow pipelines, and various visualization/output systems. The insights produced by this system directly help at-risk students stay in school and graduate.

  • You would be working on our integration architecture that ingests all the students' university information into our platform for processing. You will be working on hybrid systems that exploit the advantages of both server and serverless technologies.
