Recharge is a mobile application that enables people to book and use living space by the minute. We are currently available in San Francisco and New York City, with additional cities planned to launch in 2019.
Our new apartments product is growing like crazy. We have 50 people signing up every week to be apartment hosts, and we need to build a Host app to allow self-onboarding so it's not such a manual process.
We're a small team, and we trust each engineer to make significant technical decisions in their area of responsibility. As we grow, you'll have a critical role in building out the team and mentoring new engineers.
Living space is sold in an extremely inefficient way that favors the supplier. Join Recharge to help us allocate living space more efficiently, making it cheaper for everyone.
We're two engineers currently, each with our own areas of responsibility. We use GitHub to do code review on all changes. Server/web deploys happen several times a week, and app releases on average every couple weeks. There is a 30min product team meeting every week to talk about about new bugs and feature requests. We have good test coverage of our backend codebase (both integration and unit tests) and improving test coverage on our mobile and web apps.
The Recharge model of space usage (by the minute, with no pre-specified checkout time required) stands in contrast to the traditional model of hotel rooms and apartments (only bookable in discrete increments of a single day/night). Translating between these worlds of continuous and discrete inventory never fails to provide fun technical challenges. For example, we use machine learning to predict how long our guests will stay, then run simulations over our availability model to predict whether we can accept a future booking at a given time.
Build out a Host app to allow residents to list their homes on Recharge, manage their availability calendar, and provide feedback on guests.
Add features to help customers manage their apartment stay (lockbox information, smartlock code, intercom, etc)
Add ID verification to the guest booking flow so we know the guest is actually who they say they are.
We're dedicated and hard-working, but we try hard to not burn out. Most of us come in at a reasonable hour and leave at a reasonable hour. We like to have fun together, but this is not a beer-pong-at-the-office-every-week sort of place.
Standard unlimited vacation policy, but we actually encourage you to use it.
It's a small team, so we're flexible on work-from-home days up to 1-2/week.
Catered meals for team meetings and events.
Wellness (massage, etc) $100/quarter. $200/mo credit for using Recharge
