We provide the largest, most secure, global HPC footprint seamlessly integrated into an easy-to-use platform built for engineers and scientists. We are disrupting the staid on premise HPC world.
Not that long ago, we were a team of two, who rendered the Boeing 787 wing on commodity hardware, saving $150M in the process. Now we are a team of 50+ software engineers, computer scientists, and domain experts, helping advanced tech companies bring their complex use cases to the cloud.
We now have about 150 employees scattered around the world, with about 30 software developers mostly all located in San Francisco. The company still feels small and everyone is pretty tight. Our engineering team is broken up into smaller groups of 5-7 people with a combined full stack skill set. We try to keep meetings to a minimum: there is a daily standup and a weekly task estimation meeting. We have one week release cycles however developers are encouraged to push important features and bug fixes to production as needed. Rescale engineers work closely with our product and HPC teams to define project specs that deliver high business impact. Writing clean, testable code is also a point of emphasis and we use GitHub PRs to ensure a minimum quality bar and also to disseminate best practices and spread domain knowledge around.
- We're building an orchestration framework to execute complex engineering workflows across multiple cloud providers.
- We provide an additional layer of reliability, fault tolerance, and tuning for HPC applications which were not originally designed to run on cloud hardware.
- We are helping engineering companies figure out the best way to incorporate machine learning algorithms into their design lifecycle.
You could get to work on projects that will help us surface recommendations to the user when setting up new simulations on how they might get cheaper cost or increased performance. From a technical perspective, the challenging (and exciting parts) are building the infra and frameworks to ingest this data across multiple regions/cloud providers. Another layer of fun is how we derive insights from data.
You could be building in-browser results visualization, including custom parsers for different analysis output files and then rendering output in job status. This will lead to customers getting better realtime information while jobs are running and more insight after jobs complete. You’ll be part of building custom charting components using real time data—it's always fun to build beautiful things!
You could work on high business value projects that will directly contribute to Rescale’s success such as global cloud compute capacity mapping (very challenging engineering problem) and load balancing many large customers across global capacity pools to achieve best overall cost+reliability.
