Role Description

As a back-end engineering lead, you will focus on managing and developing all of the services that power the ResortPass application along with any other back-end work necessary to create a great experience for our customers. To drive decisions that are critical to the ResortPass business, our back-end is composed of services that deal with a range of third-parties, and real-time and historical data sources.

About you

  • At least 5+ years of back-end development
  • Expertise in evolving service oriented architectures to tackle complex challenges
  • Ensure reliable operations through innovative monitoring, deployment and fault detection
  • Deep architectural understanding both at the theoretical level (e.g. RDBMS vs. NoSQL) and at the applied level (e.g. Redis vs. Cassandra, Python vs. JavaScript)
  • Experience building high performance and distributed systems that can scale to thousands of concurrent users
  • Bias for action; you show good judgment about shipping quickly while ensuring your product is built in a scalable and maintainable way
  • Comfortable making mistakes, provided you learn from them
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and respectfully challenging decisions
  • Experience in a growth stage company and able to bring initiative to a lean startup team

Bonus points

  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field
  • Experience developing applications in Rails
  • Experience with both mobile and desktop web application development
  • Experience with TDD and code review
