Engineering at Roadster Inc
We have a small team of 10 people. Most of the team works on the full stack and has autonomy over projects and technology choices. We are agile and typically push to production multiple times a day. We run continuous integration tests and have a strong sense of ownership of our product, focus on customer experience, and appreciate good design of both products and code.
We serve customers from both the corporate and consumer world; we are scaling to thousands of corporate customers while also hosting consumer traffic on each customer website. We build a flexible platform that can be customized for each site while running a single deployment that we update daily.
Our main ongoing challenge is to design and build features that modernize the business of selling cars. To that end we have to solve inventory, pricing, financing, taxes, fulfillment for every brand of car in the US and soon in other countries as well. We integrate with dozens of vendors and run hundreds of daily tasks to scrub and populate data. Then we turn that data into a modern consumer webapp built on technologies like Elastic and Vue.js.
International expansion, localization of the platform and business rules for selling cars in a variety of countries.
An in-store mobile app that lets dealers quote customized deals and demonstrate car features to any customer who walks in the store.
Scaling of the platform to thousands of dealers; building a robust job queueing system with high performance and reliability; processing millions of data changes and calculations daily.
