About the role The Roku User Engagement and Commerce organization is looking for highly skilled software engineers to help drive expansion of our industry leading streaming platform. Our team is responsible for providing next generation User Engagement and Commerce experiences and services for our customers and streaming partners. The team has developed innovative solutions to run magical experiences on a large scale, and we are looking for a Senior Web Engineer with a passion for the user experience and scale.

You consider yourself a full-stack developer but are passionate about the user experience and developing innovative solutions and UIs using modern web technologies. You are self-driven, with a strong background in building large scale consumer facing websites. As a natural born problem solver, you love taking on new challenges. Engineers on our team come from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and industries. We value different points of view and work together in building products.

What you'll be doing Build innovative features in the User Engagement and Commerce areas Code, test, document and deliver features with cross-browser compatibility, accessibility and search engine optimization Determine the strategic and tactical direction of the front-end architecture Participate in Agile development process, including scoping, technical design, estimation effort, coding, testing, debugging, code reviews, maintenance and support Collaborate with program managers, marketing, designers, software engineers in test to build and enhance the UI Innovate and create the best user experience online We're excited if you have 10+ years of experience building high traffic, consumer facing websites Good culture fit and excellent team player Expert-level knowledge of JavaScript – prototypical inheritance, scope and closures Knowledge of latest open standards and web technologies and how they can be used effectively Ability to decompose complex problems into manageable units of work Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with node.js, ReactJS, AngularJS, Express, PageSpeed, SASS/LESS, AWS 5+ years of web development experience BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
