Role Description

Shipt is a membership-based marketplace that helps people get the things they need. Our friendly shoppers handpick fresh groceries and household essentials and deliver them to members in as soon as one hour.

We are currently looking for a Software Engineering Manager for our product discovery team! Your Responsibilities

Drive and manage a team of software engineers Plan/Host Effective Meetings Plan/prioritize work alongside your Product Manager counterpart Communicate progress/blocks to peers/managers Promote collaboration on/across teams Participate in the design process to build efficient, scalable, maintainable architecture Collect and analyze metrics to drive implementation decisions Design, improve and document processes Review and collaborate with other engineers on their code Support your team through encouragement and by example Mentor and share knowledge with the team

Requirements

Excellent communication, initiative and ownership Great attention to detail You have a knack for identifying risks/dependencies Good at promoting discussion between team members Comfortable making decisions even with ambiguities Have an understanding of functional and object-oriented paradigms Experience with SOA, micro-services, and/or distributed architectures You have developed and supported enterprise software Emphasize and promote testing in development Love collaboratively coming up with solutions to challenging problems Communicate complex ideas and concepts simply and concisely You are empathic and enjoy learning from and mentoring other engineers

Nice To Haves

We use React/Redux, Golang, have a distributed backend and are using multiple data bases, hosting on AWS. Experience in these are a nice to have. Experience leading other teams of engineers Experience moving from a monolithic code base to a microservice architecture A passion for performance Agile/Scrum/Kanban Style Processes Product/UI/UX Design

Hunger Action Month is very important to Shipt; annually we host an in-office competition to see which team can collect the most food to donate to our local food banks. This year a little healthy competition yielded over 1,000 pounds of food which is approximately 1,150 meals! Shipt has collected and donated school uniforms and supplies for local students to prepare for success in the upcoming school year. Additionally, members of Shipt's technology team visit local schools to mentor students interested in coding. Our dedication to supporting and building community extends throughout the country. When the devastation from Hurricane Harvey affected the state of Texas, Shipt filled one large U-Haul truck with groceries and drove it to those affected.
