Silo automates agricultural supply chains from end to end — essentially cutting out the middlemen and giving end users the profit lost downstream (currently a $800B+/year industry). It's the world's oldest and least sustainable industry, and we get to rebuild it.
Silo currently works with over 25,000 acres in California, connecting this land to retailers on the West Coast (aka we provide thousands of consumers like you with better food!).
Amazing team from MIT, Google, Nestle etc tackling real problems.
Mission Driven: bring consumers around the world better food, while reducing billions of dollars in agricultural and food waste globally.
Best idea wins: we are a small team with a flat structure. You will have direct input on the products you build.
We build NLP systems to move a historically pen and paper industry online. Our team is being asked if we can build computer vision systems for the World's largest farmers to grade their commodities in real time. This data is then used in the Silo Marketplace to help these farmers sell their product around the world. It's an ambitious system that has never been built before!
Projects vary from marketplace building, on farm or in field farm tools, ML and demand / supply forecasting. crop-portfolio recommendations based on Silo marketplace sales data etc.
