Ben Horowitz (at Andreessen Horowitz) backed our Series A and B and is on our board, and our CEO left his position as a professor at Stanford CS to build Sisu.
Engineering at Sisu Data
Every week, we demo our progress to the entire company. We organize our engineering sprints around these demos, whether they're showing off a new data visualization, the results of a backend performance optimization, or a new application feature.
We're obsessed with fast iteration and optimizing our developer experience, including one-line CI and push to production, and highly collaborative design reviews. We're agile (sprints, standups, story points), and we love tools that make life better, from GitHub and Slack to Travis CI, Airtable, and Kubernetes.
We also love metrics, both for measuring the impact of our own efforts and for measuring how much our users love Sisu.
Our product combines large-scale distributed systems, databases, and machine learning, with technical challenges spanning the entire stack from high-quality frontend and visualization code to hardcore machine learning and high performance data processing.
As a result, we're constantly expanding our skill sets, both learning from each other (e.g., in our weekly speaker series and reading group) and from our users.
You'd get to work on our core analytics engine, which processes billions of records and hundreds of millions of features at hundreds of thousands of data points per second per core. We're continuing to scale up with vectorized execution, columnar layouts, and dynamic query replanning.
You'd get to work on our ranking and relevance system, designing and implementing sources of weak supervision, scoring functions, and scale-out processing.
You'd get to work on our frontend, which includes in-browser rendering and data visualization, personalized recommendations, and natural-language explanation.
