Skillshare is an online community where members can explore thousands of classes, network with peers and potential employers, and showcase their talents to the world. Our mission is to provide universal access to learning and opportunities.
This year we're pushing to modernize our backend and frontend codebases. We're transitioning from Yii/Backbone to Symfony/React. In doing so we're also moving towards a service oriented architecture allowing us to break off distinct services in the future, which can be built in whatever is the best tool for the job. This is an opportunity to help re-architect our systems from the ground up.
We're building out a data team to guide product decisions and improve our data usage and algorithms. For example, since Skillshare is an open platform, in recommending classes we have to balance quality with relevancy.
Our Product and Engineering team is broken into mission driven pods. Each is given metric-driven missions to collaborate on and drive impact. We have a very smart, driven team; however, the team is fairly junior at the moment. We're looking for more senior talent to come in and help mentor and manage individuals. This is a great leadership opportunity!
