Skip (YC W18) is a new electric scooter sharing company, founded by the team behind Boosted Boards.
We want to make products that are magical for our riders, good for cities, and safe for everyone.
We are adding seasoned experts from the worlds of hardware, mobility, and safety.
We've launched in Washington DC and are coming soon to San Francisco.

Why join us?
Our team has helped re-imagine how a new generation of people commute. First with Boosted (YC S12) and now with Skip (YC W18) a shared network of personal electric scooters.
We're a group of hardware and software hackers from places like Stanford, MIT, University of California, Apple, Nest and Eero.
We've raised over $30MM from top tier investors including Menlo Ventures, Accel, Y Combinator, Initialized Capital, A Capital and SVAngel.
Engineering at Skip
Our entire connected software/hardware platform was built by a small team of 2 engineers. We use Javascript on the backend and deploy our APIs as functions on Google's Cloud platform. We have multiple codebases (server-side API, data sharing API, rider apps, scooter firmware, scooter software) and use an agile process with continuous deployment. We're big fans of git, multi-stage deployment and code reviews. We're not dogmatic on process and are always looking for a better way.
Building out the backend infrastructure for a ten thousand scooter fleet across multiple time and space zones.
Build a data pipeline that looks at where riders are opening our apps, then turn it into a heat map for the Skip Street Team, our network of independent contractors, to inform them where to best place scooters to meet demand throughout the day. Factor in weather, events and competitive supply.
Working at Skip
We're an engineering-first company. We value intellectual honesty, missionaries over mercenaries, and put more emphasis on raw IQ than specific skillset or experience.
