Engineering at SKULabs
We depend on the autonomy of our employees to get the right stuff done at the right time. We're guided by our customers. Our engineers work closely with leads and clients to get a first-hand perspective of how our processes are deployed in real-life fulfillment centers around the world. This is truly the best way to ensure we're building a product our customers love.
We requirements gather / specify in GitHub projects, chat on Slack, and coordinate through feature branches.
We're at the stage where one's bug is core to another's process so we tread lightly when changing behaviors good or bad. This industry also has a lot of buzz words that are misused making communication difficult at times for customers with their own unusual/mistaken terminology.
Deploy a streamlined address correction interface intended for an employee at one of our clients to walk through every morning to make sure we're not going to misdeliver due to address mistakes. Gather requirements, find star customers to collaborate with, mock, collaborate with the development team, implement any new APIs, and see through to the release and revision of your new feature.
Upgrade integration APIs such as Square or Shopify as deprecations arise. Find more efficient ways to import data from these partner APIs.
Solve tough engineering problems at scale. Each account may have orders with hundreds of lines, tens of thousands of open orders, 20-30 rules to execute on each order, and the sales channel may not have the technology to accurately inform us when order has been edited requiring bulk comparison. Further, we may need to calculate velocity statistics across hundreds of thousands of products for a single account taking info account perhaps millions of orders. To account for seasonality, you would want to segment these statistics by day, product, variant, and other attributes then you may need to determine and ignore when velocity was inhibited by stock availability to build the best re-ordering recommendations for the most profit.
