Slapdash lets you work with your cloud apps at desktop speed. It's the missing layer that unifies your work applications (G Suite, Dropbox, GitHub, Asana, etc.) allowing you to search, organize and launch; just like you do with files on your computer.
We’re obsessed with speed; from building the fastest workflows to making our user experience latency-free.
Why join us?
We are building the engineering team to go from 0 to 1 and beyond. You'll be able to get in on the ground-level and influence every part of the business; everything from the tech stack to our culture.
The company is founded by experienced technologists who have started companies that exited, built massive engineering systems at Facebook and WhatsApp, designed products used by millions of people, and scaled revenue from $0 to millions many times over for other successful startups.
We just graduated from Y Combinator (Winter 2019) and have an amazing set of investors that have backed the company.
We have a spacious loft-space in the heart of SoMa, close to Caltrain and BART. We also offer medical/dental/vision insurance and a 401(k) plan.
Engineering at Slapdash
Currently, the engineering is led by CTO Dimitri Koterov. The CEO, Ivan Kanevski, an engineer by background, also contributes code and does the product design work.
Both Dimitri and Ivan have deep experience building and leading large engineering teams. Currently, we employ quite a lean process where we have week-long sprints.
One of our core philosophies is that we view everything as a product - including our engineering process. We iterate on everything.
We also believe in slowing down to be able to move faster. We love writing software that lets us solve bigger problems faster and with more leverage.
The two problems we are always solving are around scale and speed. This is a deep problem both on the server side and client side, where we are pushing the state of the art.
In technology terms, we are building a scalable graph-like data store with a low-latency, expressive query layer on top. Scaling writes, reads while lowering latency end-to-end is an ongoing concern.
Our client-side application also has to be latency-free and it has to be real-time.
Make our application real-time and live. Build a persistent connection from client side to the server side and augment our data store to reactively emit any changes to objects based on the original GraphQL query.
We have a version of our experience that shows up when you open a new tab in Chrome. We need to make sure that when you open a new tab, there is no blinking & no loading latency; ideally, we achieve this without having to distribute a pre-built version of the product with the Chrome extension.
Ingest all the messages in a Slack workspace and build a graph of all documents that have been shared by whom and to whom.

Working at Slapdash
The product we are building is a reflection of our culture. We named our product Slapdash because it describes what we think work should be like: fun, fast moving and not too serious. We value creativity in problem solving as well as the craft of building something that viscerally delights.
We're located one block from South Park, in the heart of SoMa. BART and Caltrain are within walking distance. Our office is a beautiful, modern, airy loft.
We plan on having quarterly company day or overnight offsites, where we'll be able to get some perspective and plan as a team. We'll also take a weeklong trip later this year.
We offer free lunch and snacks.
We're family-oriented and celebrate our friends and colleagues becoming first-time or repeat parents.
We care about productivity and working with leverage, and understand that everyone has their own rhythm at work.
We provide medical, dental, and vision insurance.
We offer a 401(k) plan for our employees with low-cost ETF options and no additional management fees for employees.
If you're not located in the SF Bay Area, we're willing to work with you on a proper relocation package.
Work from Home
Most of us work from home one day per week.
What are some of your favorite activities? We're willing to try it :)
Some our current likes: cycling, coffee, whisky, fashion/style, books, good design, VR and games.
