Solana is a high performance blockchain that can enable growing decentralized applications and systems to scale without sacrificing security. Our team is highly specialized, so we’re looking for talented people who are willing to jump right in and use their expertise to help us find product market fit as we build out the Solana ecosystem. If you’re looking to join a fast paced, problem solving environment in the center of blockchain infrastructure, cryptocurrency and decentralized applications, then read on.
Why join us?
We are building a high performance permissionless blockchain. There are a ton of really hard engineering problems: everything from optimizing low latency epidemic protocols, to secure sandboxing of untrusted code, to GPU acceleration for cryptographic operations. We have been open source and distributed from day one.
Over the past year, we've experienced meteoric growth after the launch of our mainnet in March of 2020. Our last hackathon had over 100 fully fleshed out projects launch in under two weeks, and to date, we've processed over 13 billion transactions on our network.
The founding technical team that created the protocol came from Qualcomm, where they managed projects such as Firefox OS and the BREW Operating System. Other members of our engineering team come from Apple, Mozilla, Intel, Google, and CERN.
Engineering at Solana Labs
Fairly flat, we encourage most team members to be nimble and jump around the code base. Engineers are expected to be highly self motivated and sufficient, without the need for program management presence.
Building an entire state of the art blockchain from scratch
All our work is open source, found on GitHub mostly at https://github.com/solana-labs/solana.
You can also find the team on Discord and engage with them anytime in real time.
Working at Solana Labs
Solana is a very independent, self motivated workplace that allows employees to construct their ideal setup to be their most productive selves. If you love collaborating with engineers, you can; if you want to work asynchronously and participate in minimal meetings, you can too. We want to allow you to do your best work, while maintaining a healthy work life balance.
We're looking to hire folks that traverse all sections of our organization to help improve the bifurcation between engineering / operations.
We regularly host remote happy hours, all hands, and welcome meetings for all new hires to get acquainted with the rest of the team.
We have countless programs to help individuals grow while working within Solana: mentorship arrangements; open office hours; a generous personal education stipend; and donation matching programs to non profit organizations.
