Role Description

We're designing a hardware abstraction layer for home energy systems (solar and lithium ion), and we're looking for an embedded software engineer to join our founding team and lead embedded development.

The engineering work will be a combination of software and high-level firmware: embedded Linux -- building custom Linux on Cortex A with secure OTA, streaming data to cloud, and building a platform for third-party apps + ML -- and a real-time grid monitor with high-rate sensor data collection on Cortex M. We're looking for a confident, experienced, opinionated engineer who's comfortable shaping our architecture and helping build a software organization.

We're raising fast, moving fast, and offering plenty of money, equity, and responsibility. Come help us build a future that isn't a dystopia!

Note: major bonus points if you write or are interested in Rust.

About Span.IO

The Span team left Tesla Energy in 2018 to build hardware and software that enables plug and play renewable installation into residential homes. Connecting solar inverters and batteries to a home can be difficult due to segmentation and regulations; almost half the cost of installing solar + backup currently is installation cost. We solve that with one beautiful integrated solution.

Company Culture

As a renewable energy company, we have a mission that matters, and it shows in our culture. We care deeply about making an impact on the world and we work hard because of it.
