We’re building the new industry platform and global distribution system to connect the business aviation ecosystem. We’re providing a foundational technology solution for flight departments to access, manage and grow digital channels integrated with best-in-class management of flight operations.
Huge market — Private aviation, a $34B industry, is one of the last major segments yet to be disrupted by technology, with most of the leading business aviation operators still running on decades-old technologies. The rapid advancements that we've seen revolutionize the way we get from one place to another on the ground, has also created a massive opportunity for the taking in regards to travel/transportation in the air.
Unique Product — Stellar Labs is the first of its kind that offers aircraft operators and flight departments a seamlessly integrated end-to-end product to run their businesses. This cloud-based solution is an easy-to-use platform for enterprises that want to add revenue management, optimization, collaboration and marketplace capabilities with all of the market leading functionalities.
There are other companies (brokerages in disguise) in the space that use modern technology to make air travel more convenient (mostly for the consumer), but none that approach the industry like Stellar does. Their main focus is to build a tech platform that becomes the new technology backbone of the entire industry, a next generation version of existing systems in use by major flight department to make for a seamless transition for charter operators.
Some product highlights:
— The platform • Stellar ○ An all digital Global Distribution Systems (GDS) – which includes sourcing & distribution, payments & disbursements, ○ Commercial Operations - which includes digital quoting, CRM, customer & web, and revenue management. • Stellar + Rockwell ○ Flight Operations - crew & aircraft scheduling, flights operations & safety, dispatch management, aircraft maintenance & legalities. • Rockwell ○ Flight planning, ground/airport operations, and international trip planning.
— Rockwell Collins Flight Operations System (FOS) • 80% of business aviation depends on FOS (which Stellar now has access to)
— Mobile App • An app that allows the consumer to easily and efficiently plan their trip start to finish, all in a matter of seconds. • Filters enable the best results around availability, prices, airports, and more to create a seamless experience for the end-user.
Experienced strong team —Looking beyond the technology, and what truly separates Stellar Labs from the rest, is the level of industry-expertise on the executive team. It takes an army to build anything great, and with some of the most established leaders and recognizable names in the space, Stellar Labs is on track to do just that. Fred Powell (VP of Operator Systems) has deep domain experience and is most notably recognized for writing the industry leading scheduling system that is still used today. Dave Siegel, CEO of AWAS and formerly CEO of Frontier Airlines and US Airways has a seat on the board. Other board members include: David Crane, who is the CEO and Managing Parter of Google Ventures, and Garret Camp, who is the Founder of Uber.
Strong mission — We’re building the new industry platform and global distribution system to connect the business aviation ecosystem. Our mission is to provide a foundational technology solution for flight departments to access, manage and grow digital channels integrated with best-in-class management of flight operations.
Each Stellar employee comes to work knowing that we have the opportunity to transform an industry from the ground up. We aspire to be an amazing place to work that establishes a culture and product that enriches the lives of all our employees, customers, and shareholders.
From our lead investor: “We believe Stellar has the most potential to transform the private aviation industry dramatically of any company competing in the space. Even better, we believe Stellar can become the most successful company we have ever helped build.”
One very technically complex problem that companies struggle with in this space.... is how to solve the 'availability' problem through modern technology. For any given flight, thousands of performance, safety, flight, and pricing criteria must be applied before “availability” is determinant. Even the pricing component in itself, is extremely time consuming, labor-intensive, and error-prone. The current system in place is broken, and it’s time modern technology replaces the millions of emails, calls, and countless hours that go into determining availability/pricing for flights.
In addition, building capabilities to enable deeply collaborative workflows between users within a given flight department, across flight departments when coordinating across legs of a trip, between a customer on an iOS app and a crew member, etc… requires a sophisticated security model that is highly secure yet allows chat, task assignments, workflow and transactions across organizational boundaries, a capability that does not exist in any industry platform today.
