Born out of the frustration of switching between multiple external tools to manage the business, Streak enables users to manage any business process without leaving Gmail’s inbox. Our products enable thousands of businesses to reduce the mundane, routine tasks and processes their employees do every day so they can focus on the work that makes the biggest impact.
We believe our product is phenomenal, and we use it every single day to manage everything from sales, to customer support, to engineering, to hiring. At Streak, you will be more than a developer or salesperson - you will also be a Streak user who significantly impacts the future of our product.
We're a profitable company with thousands of paying users and hundreds of thousands of installs — Customers love our product, you'll see 5 star reviews in the Chrome web store for our browser extension and people use Streak for hours everyday. Some of our customers include Uber, Lyft, Dropbox, Atlassian, Airbnb.
You'll have both ownership and stability on our team — We're still a small team of 25 people and you'll get all the upsides of a startup (more responsibility and opportunities for learning by doing, no bureaucracy) with the stability that comes from a clear business model and profitability. It's rare to find that combination.
We're a close-knit team with a great culture — We all enjoy working together and have free, catered lunches in the office everyday. We have bi-weekly company poker nights and enjoy going out to museums and watching movies. We also give everyone a $200 per month grant to spend money on things that make your life easy e.g. using Uber and Taskrabbit.
We have good investors — We graduated from Y Combinator in 2011 and our investors include Chris Sacca, an early investor in Twitter and Uber.
Our engineering team works on roughly two-week sprints. Most projects are done by small groups of engineers working together to make sure that there's another involved person to bounce ideas off of and code review. Engineers take an active role in speccing the product experience and own their features end-to-end. Tool-wise, we use Github, CircleCI, and some in-house CI tooling and chat integrations.
1) Since our product lives inside Gmail, we have to add the minimum amount of overhead to all actions within Gmail. This requires a lot of optimization since performance matters a lot.
2) We built InboxSDK, the most popular API for interacting and working with Gmail. Maintaining this requires thinking a lot about API design and working around constraints in Gmail.
3) We have to implement a lot of the backend metadata processing of email to support fast searches across whole organizations, which requires essentially traversing the email graph for a large organization in realtime.
We were recently a launch partner for Gmail Addons: https://blog.google/products/g-suite/do-more-your-inbox-gmail-add-ons/ . This involved work up and down the stack building a build pipeline for Apps Script, creating a GraphQL endpoint to support batching, and creating a new onboarding experience for new users.
We're working on machine learning to help our users optimize and improve their workflows e.g. looking at what happened in successful deals and analyzing emails to figure out how to optimize their sales flow. By having the email data we can go much deeper than any other sales software.
We have built the largest deployment of Google Cloud Spanner outside of Google itself! Read about how we built it here: https://cloud.google.com/blog/products/databases/how-streak-built-a-graph-database-on-cloud-spanner-to-wrangle-billions-of-emails
We're still small enough that every individual makes a big impact. Maybe it's our cofounders Canadian-ness, but we believe that you can have a team that's both nice and gets things done.
We do an offsite each year to plan for the next year, recharge, and get to know the new members of the team. This year's trip to San Diego included board games, kayaking, fancy food, and a lot of R&R time by the pool.
We have catered lunch four days a week. On Fridays, folks get food from local restaurants on the company's tab.
We're located along the Embarcadero, convenient to Embarcadero BART/MUNI. Our new office has a lovely view of the bay.
We offer a flexible fitness and wellness credit you can use on a gym membership of your choice, acupuncture, or massage.
We sponsor all relevant conference and offer a substantial training credit.
We fully cover the employee contribution for medical/dental/vision.
We don't want relocation to get in the way of anybody joining Streak. We're not big enough to have an official policy yet, but we'll make it happen.
We offer parental leave to those who need to take time off of work to care for a new child. (Birth parents: 3 months, Non-birth parents: 6 weeks). We also have a mandatory 4 day work week for one month for parents returning from leave.
We offer 15 days of paid vacation, 10 company holidays, and generous sick leave.
We offer two Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA): A health care account, and a dependent care account that gives you pre-tax money to use on caring for yourself or paying for day care for your kids.
We also offer a convenience credit to help you spend your time the way you want to rather than doing mundane things like cleaning your house or getting to places faster via Lyft and Uber.
