Don’t you think it’s good that we haven't needed money in a long time? We became profitable early on, and we were responsible about our growth. We’ve grown almost entirely organically and have just started to invest in marketing. Travis Kalanick was our first advisor to Melody, our CEO, in 2010 and has always been an important partner. One of our values as a company is diversity, and one way we support that is by hiring outside of SF. Our remote Engineers are still very much a part of our team, they aren’t just hired guns. They have opportunities for career growth. They come in for office visits every quarter and they participate in events like our hackathon.
Our engineering team uses Agile practices to deliver on 2-week cycles. We push to production multiple times per week and app updates every week. Most Engineers have code in production within the first week. Our teams work on a new theme each quarter and are not pigeonholed into a product vertical. We unit test our code and we treat coding as a craft.
We have hundreds of millions of dollars flowing through our platform and millions of appointments booked every month. We build both enterprise-level tools for Beauty Professionals as well as a consumer marketplace for Clients to find and book them.
We’ve been building our supply side, building powerful business management tools for Beauty Professionals, now we can focus on driving and scaling demand, and building a consumer brand that people are excited about.
In the next 12 months, we are moving from Python2 to Python3, and going to 100% React and React Native on the frontend.
In the next 12 months, we are implementing infrastructure automation using Terraform, and building a microservice deployment pipeline.
We are also continuing to invest in and build our Data Science and Analytics (Datalytics) team.
